Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, President of SOPREST, inaugurated the Annual GIK Industrial Open House 2026, showcasing 153 Projects to 70 leading organizations.
The significance of the inauguration was further underscored by the presence of distinguished Vice Chancellors, including Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor,
University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar; Prof. Dr. Jameel Ahmed, Vice Chancellor,
Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan; Mr. Shakeel Durrani, Executive Director SOPREST; Prof. Dr. Fazal A. Khalid Rector GIK; pro-rectors; deans; alongside senior industry leaders and experts.
The inaugural ceremony set the tone for a day of innovation, collaboration, and professional engagement, showcasing 153 final-year projects from 11 undergraduate degree programs. The projects addressed real‑world industrial and societal challenges across software engineering, artificial intelligence, electrical, mechanical, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, chemical engineering, management sciences, and emerging technologies.
The event attracted participation from 70 leading public and private sector organizations, with industry experts actively engaging with students through project evaluations, discussions, and recruitment activities, reinforcing GIKI’s role as a bridge between academic excellence and industrial relevance.
Speaking at the inauguration, the leadership highlighted the importance of strengthening university–industry linkages, promoting applied research, and producing industry‑ready engineers capable of contributing to Pakistan’s technological and economic development.
