Graduate Admissions/Assistantship Schemes

A limited number of graduate assistantships are available in all disciplines, awarded on merit based on overall performance in the admission test/interview, academic credentials of the candidate, and marks/grades/CGPA from prior education. The eligibility criteria and facilities available under different schemes are given below:

MS Degree Program (2 Year):

i. Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA-1)

• Full Tuition Fee waiver
• Monthly stipend Rs. 20,000/-
• Free bachelor accommodation

      Eligibility Criteria:

• HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
• BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.70 or 70% marks

ii. Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA-2) 

• Full Tuition Fee waiver
• Monthly stipend Rs. 20,000/-
• Free bachelor accommodation

      Eligibility Criteria:

• HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
• BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.70 or 70% marks
• 2 year service as Lab Engineer/TA at GIK Institute with annual performance as very good or better.

iii. Day Scholar Scheme

• Tuition Fee: Rs. 50,000 per semester
• Accommodation is not covered

      Eligibility Criteria:

• HSSC (or Equivalent): Minimum 60% marks
• BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.00 or 60% marks

Ph.D. Degree Program (3 Year):

i. Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA-3) 

• Full Tuition Fee waiver
• Monthly stipend Rs. 75,000/-
• Free bachelor accommodation

       Eligibility Criteria:

• HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
• BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.70 or 70% marks
• MS/MPhil : Minimum CGPA 3.00 or 75% marks
• 2 year service as Research Associate at GIK Institute with annual performance as very good or better.

ii. Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA-4)

• Full Tuition Fee waiver
• Monthly stipend Rs. 50,000/-
• Free bachelor accommodation

       Eligibility Criteria:

• HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
• BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.70 or 70% marks
• MS/MPhil : Minimum CGPA 3.00 or 75% marks   

iii. Day Scholar Scheme

• Tuition Fee: Rs. 50,000 per semester
• Accommodation is not covered

       Eligibility Criteria:

• HSSC (or Equivalent) : Minimum 60% marks
• BS (Engg) : Minimum CGPA 2.50 or 65% marks
• MS/MPhil : Minimum CGPA 3.00 or 75% marks

Note: The graduate assistants shall be required to assist the faculty in teaching and research activities and to sign a service bond with the Institute at the time of admission.

Scholarships from different agencies that are available are as follows:

Candidates can apply for these scholarships after joining the Institute. The continuation of scholarships depends on the satisfactory academic performance of the concerned student and the policies of the donor agencies.
