ASHRAE Society under the Student Affairs Department organized an event “Clean GIK Drive and Hiking Trip 2022” on 24th September 2022. There were two major domains of the event as mentioned below:

Clean GIK Drive

The act of dropping litter is a social behavior that can only be treated through social measures. Positive actions that can encourage people to dispose of their waste in a responsible way includes raising awareness of the problem that litter presents, creating a better appreciation for their environment, involving communities in developing local solutions and many more. In this regard, the drive was started at 6 am on 24th September 2022 from the auditorium till the bottom of the hiking trail. Clean GIK Drive was to raise awareness and make people more responsible for garbage management. Furthermore, this allowed a spread of sense of duty in the students that they should keep the place clean and green.

Hiking Trip

To welcome Batch 32, ASHRAE Society under the Student Affairs Department organized a hiking event on 24th September 2022. The major goals of this event were to foster a sense of family among the freshman and to provide them with a direction as they continue to pursue their careers. The opportunity to form new friendships with both senior students and members of their batch.

To make the hiking excursion unforgettable, the students were gathered at the library courtyard and the participants were given instructions regarding the hiking routes as well as other instructions, such as no smoking, etc. The hike lasted for around 5 to 6 hours, after the hiking the students were engaged in “break the ice” session that included formal introduction and a group photograph.
