Dr. Muhammad Asad is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FCSE), Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), Pakistan. He earned his PhD in Information and Communication Technology (Information Engineering and Artificial Intelligence) from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, in 2025. He holds an MS in Computer Software Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad.
His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Multi-Agent Systems, Structural Health Monitoring, Digital Signal Processing, Computer Vision, and Intelligent Data Analytics. His doctoral research focused on developing intelligent multi-agent frameworks for Italian Railway Steel Bridges Health Monitoring using vibration-based sensor data, machine learning, and fuzzy logic under MUR Italy and EU-Horizon 2030 funded project.
Dr. Asad has extensive international research experience, having worked with research laboratories and institutions in Italy and Taiwan, including the Intelligent Systems and Robotics Laboratory [ISRL Italy], University of L’Aquila and Academia Sinica. His research spans intelligent infrastructure monitoring, anomaly detection, Neural Network Optimization, medical image processing (Fundus, CT Scan, MRI), multimodal sensor fusion (LiDAR & mmWave), and Natural Language Processing (NLP). He is also involved in international research collaborations involving digital twins, predictive maintenance, computational medical imaging, and financial forecasting.
Before joining GIKI, he served as an Assistant Professor at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, where he contributed to teaching, research supervision, grant development, and international academic collaborations. His research has appeared in international journals and conference proceedings, including Sensors, Springer publications, and IEEE conferences.
At GIKI,Topi, his academic interests emphasise interdisciplinary research, intelligent systems, and the application of artificial intelligence to real-world engineering and societal challenges.
In August 2026, he joined the Department of Data Science at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) as an Assistant Professor. He is eager to pursue innovative research, mentor students, and drive interdisciplinary teaching and collaborations.
