Student Affairs Department organized a Plantation Drive at the GIK Institute on 8th, 11th and 14th March, 2022. More than 500 trees were planted including Arjuna, Kachnar, Amaltas, Pines, Magnolia, Sukh Chain, Patangen, Jakaranda, Lemon, Zaitoon, Alostonia covering different spots of GIK Institute. Honorable Rector Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, SI was the chief guest of the plantation drive. Pro Rector (Academics) Prof. Dr. Wasim Ahmad Khan also participated in the plantation drive. It is a step taken by the Student Affairs Department towards sustainable conservation of the environment. Mr Sabahat Hussain (Assistant Director Student Affairs, SA Department) was the coordinator of the plantation drive along with the help of the GIK Student Societies (Project Topi, Character Building Society, SOPHEP) and horticulture department
The sole purpose of the plantation drive was to be mindful of the Clean & Green Environment. Trees greatly benefit the people living around them by having a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing, reducing stress and encouraging outdoor exercise.
