The meeting explored academic cooperation between GIK Institute and the Maldives during the President’s state visit to Pakistan
Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, President of the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST) and the GIKI Board of Governors, met His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, during the President’s state visit to Pakistan. The meeting focused on building academic cooperation between the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute) and the Universities in Maldives.
The two leaders discussed scholarship opportunities at GIK Institute for talented students from the Maldives. They also discussed an exchange of professors to promote teaching, research collaboration and knowledge sharing between the two countries.
The discussions build on GIKI’s growing international profile. The Institute already welcomes international students, including students from Bangladesh. Its students have recently completed international internships in the USA, Canada, South Korea, Germany and Saudi Arabia. Scholarships for Maldivian students and an exchange of faculty would further strengthen academic and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
GIK Institute looks forward to taking these discussions forward with the relevant Maldivian authorities and institutions.
