Biography:

Dr. Hamza Mohsin is an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at GIK Institute, Pakistan. He holds a PhD in Materials Chemistry from École Polytechnique, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France, completed in collaboration with Saint-Gobain’s Innovation Hub in Europe (SGR Paris), following an MS in Advanced Materials Engineering from Université Paris-Saclay and a BS in Materials Engineering from GIK Institute. His doctoral research unraveled the chemistry–structure–foaming pathway of aqueous alkali silicates, establishing how thermal reorganization of the silicate network, water speciation and alkali ions drives their characteristic intumescent behavior. His current research builds on this foundation towards functional inorganic systems, spanning solution-derived materials, alkali silicates, functional coatings, ceramics and glasses, and laser-assisted materials processing. The research combines materials chemistry, advanced processing and structural characterization to engineer structure–processing–property relationships for sustainable materials, fire protection and energy-related technologies. A central focus is the translation of fundamental materials understanding into functional and scalable material solutions.
