The Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST) had sanctioned construction of Girls Hostel of 350 beds on 20th August, 2021 in two phases. The phase -1 of the project will cost Rs. 18.39 crore.
There is an increasing interest of female students applying for admission in GIK. Assuming a modest increase of 10% a year from the base figure in 2018, the expected rise is to be over 290 in 2023. With the construction of phase-1 we will be able to accommodate the entrants comfortably.
The Contractor, after receipt of detailed Construction Drawings from the Design Consultants have commenced work on the construction of the Girls’ Hostel Phase-1. The work on foundation of the project was completed last week and the starters for the columns have since been started. Project is expected to be completed by December, 2022 and shall provide accommodation for 180 students.
