GIK Institute and the University of Geological Sciences (UGS), Uzbekistan, have signed a landmark MoA strengthening academic collaboration, joint research, and international knowledge exchange between the two institutions.

Under this partnership, both universities will work closely to intensify research in geological sciences and will announce annual joint research projects focused on emerging scientific and technological needs. The MoA further enhances personnel exchange, enabling the reciprocal mobility of faculty, staff, and students between UGS and GIKI to support capacity building and knowledge transfer. In addition, both parties will cooperate to facilitate student internships and job placements, creating valuable learning and professional development opportunities for young scientists and engineers. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector GIKI, Prof. Dr. Azam Kadir-Hodjaev, Rector UGS, and Prof. Dr. Leyla Sharafutdinova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

The event was also graced by Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, president of the GIKI Board of Governors, who appreciated the significance of this collaboration. Special recognition was extended to Barrister Engr. Habil Ahmed Khan, GIKI alumnus and Goodwill Ambassador, whose dedicated efforts played an instrumental role in facilitating this impactful partnership.

This milestone is an important step toward advancing research, strengthening international academic cooperation, and expanding global opportunities for students and faculty at both institutions.
