Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and Astana IT University Sign Strategic MoU During Kazakhstan President’s State Visit to Pakistan

Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) has strengthened its international academic network through a significant Memorandum of Understanding signed with Astana IT University, Kazakhstan. The MoU marks an important milestone in fostering academic cooperation, joint educational programs, and research collaboration between the two institutions.

The agreement was signed by the President of the GIKI Board of Governors, Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan and the Rector of Astana IT University, Prof. Dr. Altair Akhmetov, who was part of the official Kazakhstani delegation accompanying the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan during his state visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of leaders and representatives from Pakistan and Kazakhstan, including H.E. Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, and H.E. Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training of Pakistan. Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, President of SOPREST, and Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector of GIK Institute, were also present. The delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan was led by H.E. Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, and comprised senior officials from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, leadership of prominent Kazakh universities, and representatives of academic and research institutions.

This strategic partnership reinforces the shared vision of promoting regional academic integration, technological innovation, and global cooperation.

Astana IT University, known for its expertise in digital technologies and innovation-focused curriculum, brings complementary strengths to this partnership.

Under the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on joint research initiatives, faculty and student mobility programs, dual-degree pathways, and academic development projects aimed at enhancing educational excellence.

The partnership reflects GIK Institute’s continued commitment to expanding international engagement and creating meaningful opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation, and global academic collaboration.
