
GIKI Hosts Kazakhstan Ambassador to Strengthen Academic Collaboration and Regional Integration
Leadership from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) welcomed H.E. Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan, along with Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, President SOPREST, and Barrister Engr. Habil Ahmed Khan, former President of the GIKI Alumni Association and CEO Welt Konnect (Pvt) Ltd., to discuss strategic academic partnerships and regional integration initiatives.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector GIKI, expressed gratitude to President SOPREST for his patronage and Barrister Engr. Habil Ahmed Khan for his contributions, while highlighting recent MoUs with leading Kazakh universities aimed at fostering joint degree programs, student exchanges, and collaborative research.
President SOPREST reaffirmed full support for strengthening ties with Kazakhstan and announced exploratory visits to top institutions. He also appointed Barrister Engr. Habil Ahmed Khan as Goodwill Ambassador of GIKI, recognizing his leadership in alumni engagement and global outreach.
Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin emphasized the complementary strengths of Pakistan and Kazakhstan in education and innovation, announcing a fast-track visa facility for GIKI faculty and students, ensuring visa issuance within two working days.
The delegation toured GIKI’s advanced laboratories and smart classrooms, underscoring the Institute’s commitment to technological excellence. Both sides expressed satisfaction over growing ties with universities such as Narxoz University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Nazarbayev University, and Astana IT University, and agreed to accelerate joint initiatives for regional academic integration.
