TOPI, Pakistan – August 8, 2025 – The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology welcomed a distinguished delegation for a series of meetings on academic standards and partnership opportunities.

The visiting delegation included Mr. Nasir Shah, Director General of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Regional Centre in Peshawar; Dr. Kamal, Head of the English Department at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU); and Dr. Ivan Eubanks, Director of UCCI TV at the University College of the Cayman Islands.

The guests were received by the Rector GIK Institute, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid. In a formal session, Prof. Khalid commended Mr. Shah for his significant contributions to the HEC, particularly his role in strengthening the initiatives of the Quality Assurance Agency.

Mr. Wisal Khalil, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) presented the institute’s progress in institutionalizing the PSG 2023 Quality Assurance Framework of Pakistan. Mr. Shah praised GIK’s initiatives, provided valuable expert advice, and affirmed the HEC’s continued support for the institute’s efforts.

Discussions also focused on advancing English language instruction. The Rector acknowledged the pivotal work of Dr. Eubanks and Dr. Kamal in enhancing English courses in collaboration with the Regional English Language Office (RELO) in Pakistan. In connection with this initiative, the delegation also met with GIK’s English faculty to discuss pedagogical strategies and potential collaborations.

The visit concluded with a comprehensive tour of the institute’s laboratories and facilities, where the delegation interacted with students and faculty members. The visitors expressed their deep appreciation for the institute’s leadership and the exceptional learning environment created under the vision of Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid.
