Research and Innovation Collaboration between WAPDA and DCVE
Engr. Zakir Atiq, General Manager WAPDA (Terbela Dam) visited GIKI and met with the Rector, Prof. Dr. Fazal A. Khalid (SI) and faculty of Civil Engineering Department. GM WAPDA appreciated the state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities, labs and R&D activities at DCvE and affirmed a strong collaboration between WAPDA and DCvE.
In spirit of the MoU signed between WAPDA and GIK Institute in August 2016 to establish strong collaborative links in Water and Energy sectors. Engr. Zakir Atiq assured a strong collaboration in terms of providing internships and trainings opportunities to students of Civil Engineering along with exposure of joint research and development activities. Furthermore, HoD Department of Civil engineering, Prof. Dr. M Ashraf Tanoli appreciated the visit of the honorable guests and offered consultancy services and commercial testing to WAPDA in the following sectors.

- CFD modeling and simulation of hydropower facilities
- Hydrodynamic and sediment transport phenomena
- Hydrological response of Tarbela catchment
- Water management and geotechnical responses
