GIKIAA Executive Council

Following the successful completion of the tenure of the last Executive Council, GIK Alumni Association has elected the new Executive Council for next five years term starting July, 2019. The following gentlemen will now constitute the GIKAA Executive Council

President: JUNAID KALIM (Batch 1 - FCS)

Junaid is based out of Islamabad. His passions include Sufism, Social work, Motorcycling, Swimming, World travel, Reading and Real estate.  He is a Batch 1 Graduate in Computer Systems. He started his career from British American Tobacco, Islamabad, as Management Trainee. Then in 2000 he got a MS in Computer Science from New York University and joined Teradata, Islamabad, as Data-warehousing Engineer. In 2002 he became a Partner in Frontier Model School, Peshawar. Then In 2003 he studied Real Estate at Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, City University, New York. And founded Kalim Associates which manages rental properties, construction projects & real estate investments in Islamabad, Gwadar, Peshawar, Dubai , Istanbul & New York. In 2006  he founded Kalim Trust which sponsors & supports free food centers, orphanages, needy families in & around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar. In 2014 he became a Charter Member, TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs-Islamabad) as well as a Board Member of OPEN (Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America-Islamabad). And in 2019 he became a member of EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization-Islamabad) as well as the Elected President of the GIKI Alumni Association.

Secretary: Dr. Muhammad Muqeet Rehman (Batch 17 - FEE)

Dr. Muhammad Muqeet Rehman is currently serving as an assistant professor in the faculty of electrical engineering, GIK Institute. He completed his PhD in 2018 from Jeju National University, South Korea. Dr. Muqeet is a leading young scientist with numerous high impact publications in well reputed international SCI journals. His research is based on the applications of semiconductor materials in flexible electronic devices. Recently he is contributing in GIK research community by winning research grants and publishing his research work.
Dr. Muqeet is closely related and aware of all the affairs at GIK Institute as he has been there since last 10 years.

Vice President Student Affairs: ZAIN UL HASSAN (Batch 2 - FCSE)

Zain is an IT industry veteran with over 20 years’ experience in Industry and Academia with practical management experience in product delivery, team-building, virtual team management, conflict-resolution, program management, organizational development, in creating and maintaining agile organizations, and in managing operations. He is currently heading the Cloud Operations at Elixir besides taking care of the Product Management of core products.
Zain is an auto enthusiast and an avid books reader.  

Vice President Industrial Engagement: Illum Khan (Batch 11 FCSE)

Upon finishing his Master’s in Communication Engineering from University of Manchester, Illum join Motorola, Singapore as a CDMA engineer. With a 5 year stint in SingTel working in Network Service Integration and VAS planing decided to get his hands dirty and joined TribeHired(Startup) as the first employee for 2 years. In 2014 joined Evamp and Saanga (Islamabad) as C.O.O and later in 2016 became a partner. Illum has had the experience to work in MNC, SME and Startup both locally and international of the Telecom and IT Industry, allowing him a unique perspective and understanding of different cultures. Illum likes to play football, golf, DOTA and is a big foodie.

Vice President Finance: MALIK TARIQ AMIN (Batch 4 - FME)

Malik Tariq Amin is currently running a consulting firm providing Building Services Consultancy in Islamabad.
Tariq is a leading expert in Building Services Design including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and Cogeneration plant design. He has extensive experience in design and project management of mechanical and electrical systems in large commercial projects such as New Islamabad International Airport, Icon Tower (61 – Storey building in Pakistan), Serena Hotel Lahore, Carrefour Supermarkets, 345 – Telenor Head Office Building and many other landmark and prestigious projects in Middle East and Pakistan. His areas of interests Hospitals and Healthcare Facility designing, energy efficiency in designing and Energy modeling.
Currently he is involved in various projects in Healthcare sector and commercial buildings. He is also member of American Society of Heating Ventilation and Air-conditioning Engineer (ASHRAE), Pakistan HVACR Society and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Vice President Marketing: Ali Hasan Butt (Batch 9 FCSE)

Head of Strategic Planning for BAT South Asia vp.marketing@alumni.giki.edu.pk

Ali is a seasoned Marketing leader with 15+ years of experience in the FMCG and IT sectors and is currently based out of Islamabad as the Head of Strategic Planning for BAT South Asia. 
Ali has previously served as the Secretary of the GIKIAA from 2009-2011. More recently, he has served as the Co-President of the UK Chapter of the Berkeley MBA Alumni Association from 2017-18.
In addition to volunteering, Ali is also passionate about traveling and sports; he has played league cricket in England and recently became an ECB Level 2 Qualified Cricket Coach.
We wish a very thriving next 2 years term to the GIKAA Executive Council and hope that they will keep on assisting us as they have been doing over the past years.
