Free energy of formation, Free energy diagrams. Limitations of free energy diagrams and the phosphorus reaction in steelmaking, Gas-solid reactions in calcination, roasting and reduction, Liquid-solid reactions in leaching, Liquid-liquid reactions at slag-metal interface, Gas-liquid reactions, Slag structures, Basicity of slags, mattes, Dross, Fire refining, Distillation, Halide and vacuum metallurgy.

Hours: XYZ where X = Lecture, Y = Lab, Z = Credit
All hours are per week.
3 Lab hours constitute 1 credit hour
1 credit hour implies 1 lecture of 50mins per academic week. 16 weeks in total.
