|Phase Equilibria & Microstructures||Hours: 3 0 3|
Gibbs phase rule. Phase diagrams of alloys & materials. Free energy composition curves. Ideal & regular solution models. Relation between phase diagrams and free energy/composition curves. Evolution and development of microstructures in typical binary systems and in processes like solidification, annealing, deformation and precipitation. Diffusional and non-diffusional phase transformations. Ultrafine grains, nanoseale phases and nanostructured materials.
