Joining technology, basic principles, metallurgical, mechanical and chamical joining, joint designs, design for assembly, comparison of joining processes. Heat and mass flow; stresses and distortion; gas and electric arc welding; resistance wielding; plasma welding; laser ad electron beam welding; friction welding processes; welding defects and quality assurance; joining of dissimilar materials. Brazing and soldering, high and low temperature brazing and soldering. Lead-free solder alloys, diffusion bonding. Adhesives joining; joining of plastics, ceramics and composites; environment and safety issues.
