Design codes and standards, Basic criteria of design of machine parts, determination of permissible and actual stresses, factor of safety, Design of keys, cotters, and couplings, Design of brakes and clutches, Flywheel, Design of welded, riveted and bolted joints, Design of translation screws, Mechanical springs, Flexible mechanical elements, Fundamentals of CAD.

Hours: XYZ where X = Lecture, Y = Lab, Z = Credit
All hours are per week.
3 Lab hours constitute 1 credit hour
1 credit hour implies 1 lecture of 50mins per academic week. 16 weeks in total.
