Crystallography & X-Ray Diffraction Hours: 3 0 3

Introduction to the crystal structure of materials. Symmetry, lattice directions and planes, crystal shapes, stereographic projections. X-rays – their nature and properties. Introduction to diffraction and X-ray diffractometers. Application of X-rays, residual stress measurement and phase analysis.

Pre-requisites: MM102Co-requisites: None

Hours: XYZ where X = Lecture, Y = Lab, Z = Credit
All hours are per week.
3 Lab hours constitute 1 credit hour
1 credit hour implies 1 lecture of 50mins per academic week. 16 weeks in total.
