Electrochemical aspects of corrosion; EMF series and various corrosion cells; electrochemical polarization; passivation; modern theory of corrosion; types of corrosion; pitting and crevice corrosion; galvanic corrosion; stress corrosion cracking; cavitations and fretting; corrosion fatigue; corrosion evaluation techniques; protection methods,; coatings; inhibitors, cathodic and anodic protection technology and their applications; high temperature oxidation and corrosion.

Hours: XYZ where X = Lecture, Y = Lab, Z = Credit
All hours are per week.
3 Lab hours constitute 1 credit hour
1 credit hour implies 1 lecture of 50mins per academic week. 16 weeks in total.
