Probability fundamentals, system noise analysis, SNR and BER calculations, behaviour of analogue/digital communication systems in presence of noise, optimal receiver design concepts, introductory information theory, coding and multiplexing techniques including source, channel and line-coding techniques and FDM, TDM, spread spectrum techniques.

Pre-requisites: EE251,EE361
Co-requisites: none

Hours: XYZ where X = Lecture, Y = Lab, Z = Credit
All hours are per week.
3 Lab hours constitute 1 credit hour
1 credit hour implies 1 lecture of 50mins per academic week. 16 weeks in total.
