Logistics and distribution are core components of supply chain management. Logistics management plans, implements, and controls efficient, effective forward and backward flow and storage of goods and services. It also predicts and circulates timely related information between the point of origin and the points of production, purchase and consumption in order to meet customers? requirements. Logistics decisions are typically classified into: 1) strategic: dealing with decisions that have a long-lasting effect on the firm; 2) tactical: including decisions that are updated anywhere between once every quarter and once every year; 3) operational: referring to day-to-day decisions. For this course, the focus will be on strategic and tactical decisions in logistics management.
