Applications are invited from well qualified persons for the positions of Director (ORIC), Director (QEC), Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering Sciences (with specialization in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics or Engineering Sciences), Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering Sciences (with specialization in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics or Engineering Sciences), Manager Research Support and Assistant Director Rector’s Office in the GIK Institute. Requisite qualifications and experience are appended below:

Director (ORIC): The Director will manage and enhance the research activities of the university, develop research policies and  priorities,  work  for  fund  raising  for  research and other activities,  mobilize  faculty,  business  community  and industry for research commercialization and serve as an effective advocate for research with the university and to its broader community of stakeholders and supporters. Secondly,  must  have  strong  ties  with  the  local  government,  business /industry, entrepreneur,  university  and  social  communities.  Finally, proven leadership experience in managing and growing non-profit organizations.

He/she will also implement the strategy and business development plan required to execute program initiatives to enhance the progress of the ORIC. The position also manages the operational aspects of the ORIC. He/she will work in close liaison with other boards including, business/technology Incubators and University Science & Technology Park (if any). He/she shall also contribute to the overall objectives of the Institute.

In addition, the Director will:

  • Monetize royalty streams from licenses
  • Draft and monitor department budget
  • Oversee IP webpage, in conjunction with the web committee
  • Promote Institute IP success  stories and utilize success stories to leverage commercialization efforts.
  • Work for technical marketing and licensing for the commercialization of  the  Institute’s  IP
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal person shall have an 18 years Master’s degree (PhD degree will be given preference) and should  have an entrepreneurial  mindset and 10 years’ relevant experience.

Director (Quality Enhancement Cell): The candidate must have a clear vision and depth of knowledge in the field of Quality Assurance and Higher Education. The candidate must have Masters/PhD degree in any relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institution of higher education. Successful candidate must have experience of minimum ten years out of which minimum 5 years should be in the relevant field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Strong analytical and writing skills are prerequisite for this vacancy. Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Management will be preferred.

Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering Sciences

PhD in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics or Engineering Sciences from HEC recognized University / Institution, preferably with some publications in refereed journals of international repute. The applicant should have demonstrated the capability to conduct independent and original research.

Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering Sciences

Master’s Degree/ (First Class) in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics or Engineering Sciences from HEC recognized University / Institution with no 3rd Division in the Academic career.

Manager Research Support:  A full time Manager of Research Support (Operation and Development) will be responsible to oversee all aspects of the operation of the ORIC, which will also include the research administration (budgeting, auditing and accounting, human resources, management and maintenance of facilities and equipment, implementation of research contracts and human resources).

The Manager will also be tasked to develop programs and activities to increase funding for research from all public and private sources. And also establish and maintain excellent relationships with donors and stakeholders, oversee proposal development and submission.

The Research Office supports the externally and internally sponsored projects of the institution by providing pre- and post-award support to PIs and ensuring compliance with Temple and sponsor regulations. The person will work in close liaison with the board of advance studies and research or office of sponsored research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate pre- and post-award administrative procedures for externally sponsored projects.
  • Support faculty with grant proposal submissions in conjunction with sponsored projects administration (budget development; award documentation; administrative portions of proposals; internal approvals; monitor issues around effort, cost share, space needs, and tuition remission)
  • Support faculty regarding contracts, progress reports, and other sponsor-related grant actions.
  • Support faculty regarding post-award grant management, including projections, effort allocations and reporting, human resources, consultants, and close-outs.
  • Coordinate internal and external reporting needs, including maintenance of HEI’s database.
  • Develop and maintain the award process web pages.
  • Work with the administration to set goals and responsibilities within the research office and to monitor procedural efficiencies.
  • The Manager of Research Development provides overall vision to the institute research portfolio. The focus of this position is to foster collaborations among research faculty across departments and colleges, and to support the mentorship of junior faculty. Develop programs and activities that will increase funding for research from all public and private sources, establish and maintain excellent relationships with donors and stakeholders, oversee proposal development and submission
  • Identify a programmatic strategy for research that promotes multidisciplinary collaboration within the university.
  • Develop a structure for mentorship of junior faculty.
  • Facilitate collaborations among faculty through identifying overlapping research interests and providing opportunities to communicate.
  • Provide information about the grant process to faculty including study section procedures, interpreting reviews, and identifying appropriate funding mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain research cores and infrastructure within the institute including web pages, internal grant review procedures, and statistical support.
  • Communicate with Development at both university and college levels about research initiatives and strengths.

Eligibility and Experience:

  • Postgraduate degree from a quality institution in Management/Human Resources/Accounts & Finance or other related field.
  • The ideal person should have six years relevant experience working for research and track record of management of research projects, organization or research donor agencies.

Assistant Director Rector’s Office: Master’s degree from a recognized university preferably with at least 2 years post qualification experience of working in Vice Chancellor/Rector’s office of a government, semi-government or autonomous or reputed private Institution. Should have good working knowledge of MS office, taking minutes/notes of the meetings, drafting official noting/letters and excellent communication skills.

Lab/Office/IT Assistant: B.Sc. (Physics/Maths/Computer Science/IT) from a recognized university, with two years relevant work experience.  Computer skills are essential.

Machinist (Mechanical): DAE from a Board of Technical Education in General Engineering (Machinist) with two years post diploma experience.

Management Trainees: MBA or equivalent with at least 16 years of education and excellent academic record with specialization in Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, Marketing, General Business Management and allied disciplines. Computer Skills are essential (age limit 25 years).
