GIK Debate Team Shows Brilliant Performance in PreKorea WUDC

The Debate Team of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology has been a great representative of the Institute in national debating tournaments for many years. The Team’s participation in international tournaments has also been praiseworthy through the years.

This year, four members of the team participated in one of the most competitive debating tournaments on the globe, PreKorea World Universities Debating Competition and performed exceptionally well.

The World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) is the world’s largest debating tournament and follows the British Parliamentary debate format. Each year, the event is hosted by a university selected by the World University Debating Council, this year being hosted by Debate Korea.

Members of the GIK team were one-point shy of breaking into the semifinals and scored higher than most of the prestigious institutions including teams from Yale University and Hart House.

Details of the Team members are as follows:

- Mohammad Ahmad (BMTN), 2018199

- Ibrahim Saleem (BME), 2018288

- Haider Ali Shah (BCE), 2018529

- M. Junaid Javed Shah (BCS), 2018293

The team hopes to make the Institute and country proud with exceptional representation and performance in the future as well.
