Materials Thermodynamics

Materials ThermodynamicsHours: 3 0 3

Equilibrium, quasi-static equilibrium. First law, enthalpy, internal energy. Second law, entropy, Gibbs, Helmoltz free energies. Third law, use of thermodynamic data. Applications in phase diagrams, metal-slag equilibria, point defects, half-cell reactions. Multicomponent phase diagrams in ceramics and gas-solid equilibria. Polymer thermal stability in chemical environments.
