ASME Society under the Student Affairs Department organized an event called Design and Stress Competition on 6th October 2022 at GIK Institute. Dr Asif Khan Adviser of ASME Society conducted the session and the competition. For this competition a Beam was designed on CAD software (Solid works, CREO) by the students/participants. The design was analyzed, and Top 15 students were selected for stage 2.
In the stage 2 stress analysis of the beam was the main module. The stress analysis of the beam was carried out to further narrow down the selected candidates.
After the second stage the selected students were then divided into groups of 3 who were given the task to build the 3D printing designs (using the 3D printer in Faculty of Mechanical Engineers). The best team was selected after completing all the stages and the candidates were selected to represent GIK in other national and international competitions.
