Dean Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University Japan, Prof. Dr. Yoshimasa Nakamura invited Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi from 19-21 February, 2019 to visit Kyoto University. Kyoto University is ranked 65 in World University Rankings 2020 (THE), 48 in University Impact Ranking 2019 (THE) and 1st in Japan University Rankings 2019 (THE).

Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi introduced GIK Institute and explored possible avenues of collaboration with Kyoto University. Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Nagamochi was also present in the meeting. It was decided that the Graduate School of Informatics would like to award a full scholarship to one outstanding PhD student from Pakistan. It was agreed that GIK researchers may collaborate with Japanese counterpart from Graduate School of Informatics. The members also agreed to convince higher authorities (both from Pakistan and Japan) to reserve funding to support research activities and mobility program between the two countries.

Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi also visited the open-house event of the Graduate School of Informatics where graduate students displayed their research work. During his meeting with the Associate Dean Prof. Dr. Qiao Gang they discussed the possibility of future collaboration between the College and GIK Institute. It was also agreed that in near future MoU between the two universities may also be signed to formalize the collaboration.
